The Treachery of the Left, Part I

Hello and welcome to another Be the Light Daily podcast. I’m your host Rita Phillips and I’m delighted you’re listening. Our topic today is the treachery of the left. So, without ado, let’s get started.

lefties hysterically call trump a traitor

The left, as you know, is fond of throwing the word “treason” around, especially if they’re aiming that word at conservatives. As an example, let’s begin with ex-CIA Director, John Brennan. After President Trump met with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, in 2018, Brennan tweeted, “Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors.’ It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???” That sounds a bit unhinged, if you ask me.

After the Helsinki meeting, writing for the New York Times, columnist Charles Blow breathlessly wrote, “America is being betrayed by its own president. America is under attack and its president absolutely refuses to defend it. Simply put, Trump is a traitor and may well be treasonous.” Hmmm…traitor is a noun and treasonous is the adjective form of the word. Does Blow know he’s being repetitive? Huh…I thought these guys were supposed to be professional writers.

Another journalist, Michael A. Cohen, wrote an op-ed in the Boston Globe in 2018 entitled Trump the Traitor. In his hit piece, Cohen despairs, “But what I do believe…is that the President of the United States is an agent of the Russian government…Trump is a clear and present danger to US national security.”

Celebrities also got in on the “traitor train.” Listen to Bill Maher, a man who claims to be politically incorrect, spew the same rot with which so many on his side of the aisle have labeled the President.

Sounds like he’s following the crowd, you know, being politically correct.

Wow! If I were a busy individual, not really politically involved, and just managed to catch the news when I could in dribs and drabs I might think President Trump is a KGB agent who infiltrated our government at the very highest level. If I thought that, I’d be dead wrong!

defining treason

Let’s begin with the definition of the word treason. Wordnik defines treason as “the betrayal of one’s country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.” Okay, just to be safe, let’s also check out the word traitor. According to The Free Dictionary, a traitor is “One who betrays one’s country, especially one who commits treason. A person who is guilty of treason or treachery, in betraying friends, country, a cause or trust, etc.” I think that’s pretty clear.

why the left calls trump a traitor

The left has been on a feeding frenzy because Donald J.Trump did the unthinkable in 2016. He beat the lady in waiting, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and became our 45th President. And, so-called “journalists” and Democrats, but I repeat myself, willfully chose to misconstrue something Donald Trump said jokingly about Hillary Clinton’s missing 33,000 emails. Just in case you’ve forgotten. Here it is.

Friends, Donald Trump is a smart man; he also has a sense of humor. If he were actually an agent of Putin’s, he wouldn’t boldly make this request with millions watching on TV. Trump was joking. He was actually trolling both Hillary and the mainstream media. I guess it worked… to a certain degree. Interestingly, Hillary Clinton made a joke very similar to Trump’s and the FAKE media was quick to call it just that…a joke. Here it is:

And, this is one of the reasons Clinton lost.  Her jokes come off awkwardly and aren’t really funny.  It was amusing the first time when Trump said it.

using honey

The President is an entertaining man. And, he uses unorthodox methods to accomplish his goals both at home and abroad. One such example of this is, rather than keep America’s enemies at arm’s length, he prefers to engage them in a friendly way. I can’t help but think of Luke 6:27-28 which says, “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” All of us should be reminded of this verse occasionally.

The fact is, Trump knows he can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. That’s why he prefers to engage US enemies. Consider the President’s relationship with Vladimir Putin. In July of 2018, President Trump met with the Russian President in Helsinki. After his one-on-one meeting, Trump declared that he believed Putin when the Russian President denied having anything to do with interfering in the 2016 US Presidential election. Of course, the leftist media and “never-Trumpers” had a cow. Some of the adjectives they used to describe President Trump’s words were: “shameful,” “disgraceful,” and “weak.” Former Republican Senator Bob Corker said Trump’s statements made the US “look like a pushover.” Well, he would know. He’s been a pushover as a senator, consistently kowtowing to liberals in Congress and in the drive-by media. That’s why he is no longer in the Senate.

The left just doesn’t get this President. Trump likes to try friendliness first with friends and foes alike. He also has a tendency to be hyperbolic when describing accomplishments or while lavishing compliments on foreign leaders, but no one should misread that for weakness. All one need do is look at the actions of this President.

russian collateral damage

In February of 2018, a full five months prior to meeting with Putin, US forces, under the direction of the President, killed nearly 200 Russian mercenaries in Syria supporting the Assad regime. The Russian troops were in Syria to “seize oil and gas fields and protect them on behalf of the Assad regime,” according to a New York Times article, and they became collateral damage during a bombing effort.
A US official reported, “…it may be the deadliest clash between citizens of the former foes (meaning the US & Russia) since the Cold War.”

Does this sound like a weak President who is in Putin’s pocket, doing his bidding? Does this even remotely sound like a traitor to his country? Does this sound like a KGB agent? The answer to all these questions, of course, is a resounding no!

trump knows how to deal with Kim Jong Un

Another US enemy is the deplorable Kim Jong Un, who recently changed his title to “Supreme Representative of the Whole Korean People.” Something tells me the South Koreans are gonna have something to say about that.

Regardless, President Trump broke a longstanding presidential tradition of refusing to meet with any North Korean leader. After months of mutual name calling and one-upmanship, Trump bucked the system and met with Kim Jong Un, in person in a one-on-one meeting lasting 38 minutes. Since North Korea has nukes, doesn’t it make sense to try to get along? And by get along I don’t mean allowing the US to be bullied by this little tyrant. I mean opening a discussion, trying to find some tiny bit of agreement on something.

leftist hypocrisy

The left, which, two years ago, thought Trump would get the US into a war with North Korea, came unglued over the historic meeting. Rachel Maddow called it a “gift” to Kim Jong Un, who has dreamed of coercing the US to “acknowledge them as an equal.” Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times said is was a “dangerous gamble and a bad idea.” Evelyn Farkas, deputy assistant secretary of defense under Obama, accused Trump of “fawning over the North Koreans.”

That’s rich considering how the media gushed over the North Korean cheerleaders called the “Army of Beauties,” chosen not just for their beauty, but also for their fealty to the North Korean government. The Wall Street Journal’s headline read: “North Korean Cheerleaders: 100 Olympic Stars are Born.” And, NBC’s Twitter page raved, “This is so satisfying to watch.”

In addition, journalists went ga-ga over Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong. Listen to a Fox report on the driveby media’s coverage of the sister of the North Korean dictator.

And, these leftists are the people commenting on Trump getting too chummy with despots?  It’s both ironic and stunning.

confusion reigns supreme

Lefties are so confused and confusing. First, they freak out because they think the Twitter feud between Trump and the North Korean leader could land the US into a war. They recommend Trump learn some diplomacy, play nice. Then, when Trump tries some friendly diplomacy, they claim the President is genuflecting before our country’s enemies. He can’t win.

trump is no putin stooge

You could say the same thing regarding Russia. All we’ve heard about for the last two and a half years is that Trump is Putin’s lapboy, stooge, puppet. Some, of course, have gone much further, stating that Trump is a Russian agent and has committed treason. So, one would think that the President would make life easy for anything or anyone Russian, if in fact he was a Russian agent. But, the facts show a reality at odds with the myth and outright slander that has been propagated by so-called journalists and news anchors. As mentioned previously, when Russian mercenaries siding with the Syrian regime attacked US forces, President Donald J. Trump didn’t call Putin. Instead he acted decisively, ordering air attacks, full well knowing about the very real possibility there would be Russian mercenary casualties. That is the stuff leaders are made of. Doesn’t sound like he’s too cozy with Putin, does it?

leftist traitors…beginning with john kerry

It’s time to discuss the real traitors. Let’s begin with former Democrat Secretary of State John Kerry, sometimes known as Hanoi John. During the Vietnam War, Kerry dishonored his country and his fellow soldiers by the lies he told before Congress. Here’s a two minute audio recounting some of Kerry’s traitorous speech.

So, John Kerry accused his fellow soldiers of committing atrocities in Vietnam, the very thing the North Vietnamese wanted to extract through torture from American POWs? Talk about giving the enemy aid and comfort. I hope you heard the line in the audio about the group that John Kerry founded, Vietnam Veterans Against the War. It was a pro-communist, anti-American group of individuals who sided with the North Vietnamese government.

So, that was the 70s. Did Kerry learn anything? Were his treasonous days over with after the Vietnam War ended? Think again. Here’s Kerry in 2006 once again attacking US soldiers with outright lies.

What was he trying to accomplish with these lies?  I’ll take a shot at answering that question. He was purposely trying to undermine the war effort because he didn’t like the President who was leading it, George W Bush.

In 2014, as acting Secretary of State, on Yom Hashoah (otherwise known as Holocaust Remembrance Day)–a day to honor those murdered by virulent anti-Semites known as Nazis–Kerry delivered a harsh message to Israelis. He said that if no two-state solution regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict occurred soon, Israel risked becoming, in his words, “an Apartheid state.”

Earlier that year, Kerry threatened Israel saying they were in danger of facing boycotts if peace talks failed. In fact, the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement claims the same thing, that Israel is an Apartheid state. Kerry’s statement lent credence to the movement. Both Kerry and Obama turned on the only ally the US has in the Middle East, Israel. And, as far as I’m concerned, turning on a reliable, democratic ally is a treasonous act.

But I’m not done with John Kerry. Let’s see what he’s doing today. Remember he is the FORMER Secretary of State, not the current one. Kerry should be enjoying retirement not butting in on Trump’s foreign policy. Instead, however, John Kerry met with Iranian officials three or four times in a bid to save Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Thank the Good Lord, Trump ended the Iranian nuclear deal in 2018. But, that doesn’t excuse John Kerry’s actions. Some believe he is guilty of violating the Logan Act which prohibits US citizens from “engaging in discussions with foreign governments with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or to defeat the measures of the United States.” Other critics have called Kerry’s actions “collusion.” If either charge is true, this amounts to treason.

Let’s sum up. John Kerry lied about US soldiers in Vietnam giving aid and comfort to the North Vietnamese government and betraying his fellow soldiers in the 70s. Then in 2006, he did what he does best. He maligned American troops in Iraq claiming they participated in atrocities against Iraqui citizens. Again in 2014, in an act of betrayal against one of America’s most stalwart allies, Kerry claimed Israel was in danger of becoming an Apartheid state and could face boycotts from Americans. And finally, Kerry was probably guilty of violating the Logan Act as he tried fruitlessly to save Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal while acting against the Trump administration’s goals. I guess we could say of John Kerry, once a traitor, always a traitor. He hasn’t learned a gosh darn thing.

bill clinton, traitor?

Let’s move on to another well known Democrat, former President William Jefferson Clinton. How many of you remember that Bill Clinton avoided the draft during the Vietnam War years? He used many methods for years to avoid having to go fight in the war. Most notably he relied on Senator J. William Fulbright to strong arm the Draft Board after much lobbying by Clinton’s uncle, Raymond Clinton.

In addition, while attending Oxford University in 1969, the former President organized and led anti-war demonstrations in London. Clinton’s demonstrations “had the support of British peace organizations such as the British Peace Council, an arm of the KGB-backed World Peace Council.” Ivian C. Smith, former FBI Agent-in-Charge in Arkansas said of Bill Clinton’s two week excursion into the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War: “That’s never been satisfactorily explained.” He added, “I can tell you back in those days, though, that there would have been close scrutiny by someone because students didn’t just wander in and out of there…We would have liked to have had a more complete answer to what happened during those weeks there.”

Many people speculate that that’s when Clinton became an ally of both Russia and Communist China. According to Accuracy in Media, “China pumped untold millions of dollars into Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign…” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to conclude that the former President was beholding to China. How did he pay them back? Well, as president, Clinton sold advanced US missile technology to the People’s Republic of China. David Horowitz, writing in his book The Black Book of the American Left Volume 7: The Left in Power: Clinton to Obama, explains that the, “administration’s voluntary release of all the secrets of America’s nuclear tests, combined with the systematic theft of the secrets that were left as a result of its lax security controls, effectively wiped out America’s technological edge.” Crazy, right? Not to the left. This fits with how they see us and the world. They believe the US needs to be taken down a few notches, neutralized, if you will, so we are no longer a superpower, but just one of many countries on equal footing.

According to Frontpage Magazine, “Clinton also lifted security controls, allowing thieves to access other vital military technologies, while disarming his own side and opposing needed defenses.” Horowitz explains that under Clinton, China received many supercomputers, which had been banned for export due to security reasons. These supercomputers can simulate a nuclear test and are essential to the development of nuclear warheads. Author Horowitz then asks, “What responsible president or administration official, at any relevant level in any government, would allow the massive transfer of national-security assets like these to a dictatorship they knew had stolen their country’s most highly guarded military secrets?” What president indeed? This reeks of treason. If I were Bill Clinton, I would worry about the judgment of God. Ecclesiates 3:17 explains that, “God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.”

Now, has Donald Trump done anything remotely resembling any of the things Bill Clinton did as president? The answer is, of course, no, nothing like it.

Ted Kennedy, traitor?

Lest we forget another traitorous Democrat, it’s time to discuss Senator Ted Kennedy. Kennedy believed Ronald Reagan was more dangerous than the Soviet Union which during its reign had murdered up to 160 million people and forced millions of others into enslavement in the gulags. So, the good senator offered to work with the KGB to defeat President Ronald Reagan. His plan included working with NBC, CBS, and ABC news stations to portray Yuri Andropov and other Soviet officials in a positive light. His idea was to contrast “peace loving Soviets” (what a joke) with a pro-war Reagan to convince Americans to believe the news propaganda–otherwise known as FAKE NEWS–and vote Democrat.

Since Ted Kennedy was thinking of running for President himself in 1984,he sent his buddy, Senator John Tunney, to Russia 15 times to negotiate in person. Obviously Kennedy’s plan didn’t work, and thankfully the country recognized Ronald Reagan as a stalwart patriot and an effective President, so they delivered 49 of the 50 states to the Gipper in an unprecedented landslide election win.

The only reason we know anything about Kennedy’s traitorous activities is because when the Soviet Union collapsed, the KGB files were opened briefly to the world. So what became of traitor Ted Kennedy and his nefarious deeds? Was he impeached as a senator? Did his party ask him to resign? Was there an investigation? Was a special prosecutor assigned to ferret out the disturbing details? Did Ted Kennedy face justice for his treachery? The answer to all these questions is NO! Justice may not have prevailed in this lifetime for the late Senator, but perhaps he now realizes the truth of Colossians 3:25 which says, “For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.”

Interestingly, despite his treachery, Ted Kennedy was known until his death by the moniker, the Lion of the Senate. I think a better name befitting Kennedy’s crimes would be what Vladimir Lenin used to describe Western individuals who worked with the Soviet Union to betray their own countries: useful idiot.

bernie sanders, traitor?

It’s time now to look at another useful idiot, Bernie Sanders. This guy is incredible! If the definition of treason is “the betrayal of one’s country…by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies,” Bernie is the poster child for treason. An independent who caucuses with the Democrats, Sanders self-describes as a socialist. Among his activities which gave aid to our country’s enemies, Sanders praised the Nicaraguan Sandinistas and the Communist Castro regime in Cuba. Here he is putting down President Ronald Reagan and lauding Castro and the Sandinistas.

This is so typical of the left. Sanders praises communist leaders like Fidel Castro and Daniel Ortega, and mocks the American President, Ronald Reagan. Then, in typical leftist condescension, he says the Sandinistas really need a good PR firm to explain socialism to the American people. The American public is not stupid, Senator Sanders. We know what socialism and communism are and most of us want no part of it.

Sanders also “honeymooned” in the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War. He says his aim was to befriend citizens in a Soviet city with the long term goal of having that city serve as a sister city with Burlington, Vermont, the city in which he served as mayor.

In his own words, Sanders wanted to encourage, “citizen-to-citizen exchanges–of young people, artists and musicians, business people, public officials, and just plain ordinary citizens.” He added, “We can break down the barriers and stereotypes which exist between the Soviet Union and the United States.” Spoken like a true liberal with pie-in-the-sky aspirations. I gotta tell ya, that’s the thing about libs. They don’t live in reality. Everything they believe is based on emotions and unrealistic aspirations.

Sanders actually traveled with others from Burlington as well as with his wife. In some of the recently revealed footage of the visit, Sanders and the delegation from Vermont, are shown sitting at a table under a portrait of Vladimir Lenin. In the video, he lavishes praise on socialism while describing Soviet life and culture.

Apparently what Sanders refuses to do is view what he is shown by locals in the Soviet Union with a critical eye. According to a Politico article the Sanders delegation is seen in videos eating “nice-looking meals, touring a decorated subway station, taking horse-and-buggy rides and watching professional dancers. A cab driver even serenades members of Sanders’ delegation…” Did he really believe this was how most citizens of the Soviet Union were treated? Can anyone say naive?

a prayer

Let’s end with prayer. Father, glory be to you because only you are holy. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die for our sins that we might be forgiven and receive salvation. We also thank you for all the blessings you’ve bestowed on us as Americans. For liberty and bounty, we thank you, Lord. Tonight we come to you humbly asking for your justice to prevail in our country. We have seen corruption in our government come to light due to partisanship, hatred, and the love of power. Lord, please soften the hearts of those who trade in hatred. Let every person in this country, and especially those in power, remember what real truth is, not the relativism that many practice today. Our country needs you desperately, Lord. Now more than ever. I remember a song that I was taught in grade school, but is too controversial to sing in school today: America the Beautiful. Imagine that. I’d like to quote some of those words which speak powerfully as a prayer for America in 2019. “America, America! God mend thine every flaw. Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law.” Mend us, O Lord, and fill us with self-control through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
